Developed from the ground up to meet customer ideas and requirements, this unique, battery-powered device utilizes ultrasonic technology to provide precise, real-time water flow data accessible from any connected device. Objective

The primary goal in developing the ultrasonic water meter was to create a device that eliminates manual data collection by offering remote access to water flow data. This not only enhances accuracy but also streamlines monitoring, making it ideal for large facilities, municipal water management, and remote locations. Customer specifications guided every phase of design, from the casing to the mold and the complete Bill of Materials (BOM).


 

Challenges and Needs

  • Precision Measurement: Accurate flow measurement is critical, requiring a technology that minimizes interference and maintains accuracy over time.

  • Battery Efficiency: As a battery-powered device, the meter needs to be energy-efficient to ensure extended operational life.

  • Remote Data Access: With built-in telemetry, the device provides data to any computer or mobile device, reducing the need for site visits.

  • Robust Casing: The casing must be durable, waterproof, and weather-resistant, capable of withstanding diverse environmental conditions.

  • Custom Specifications: Given customer-specific needs, the meter's design had to be tailored for compatibility, size, and functional requirements.


 

Solution

a. Ultrasonic Technology for Precision

  • Non-Mechanical Flow Measurement: Ultrasonic technology, which uses sound waves to measure flow rate, ensures minimal wear and tear, maintaining accuracy and consistency over time.

  • High Sensitivity Sensors: These sensors detect minute changes in flow, allowing for precise measurement without the risk of clogging, often associated with mechanical meters.

b. Battery Optimization

  • Low-Power Design: Energy-efficient electronics and optimized sensor usage significantly extend battery life.

  • Precision Mold Development: By designing the mold in-house, we ensured that the product would meet the exact specifications required, streamlining the manufacturing process.

e. Complete Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • Comprehensive BOM: A detailed BOM was created for production, covering everything from electronics to casing materials, ensuring the manufacturing process is efficient and cost-effective.
